Mighty No. 9 Postponed For a Third Time
One should not expect to play the Japanese side-scrolling action game before this spring.
Are you one of those people who are eagerly waiting for the unveiling of Japanese side-scrolling action game Mighty No. 9? Then here is some bad news for you.
Developer Comcept declared on Monday that it is pushing back the release date of the game for a third time, due to some “critical” issues affecting the network modes. It is to be noted that originally it was set to be released in spring 2015, then it was postponed to mid-September, and then once more pushed back to February 2016.As stated by Comcept, the crowdfunded title will not be hitting consoles before spring 2016,.
The founder of Comcept, Keiji Inafune stated that the delay is because of bugs inside the network modes, and specially issues with matchmaking.
Moreover, he said that while preparing for the February release of Mighty No. 9 they have gone the extra mile with their partners to solve any network problems and doing the work hat is required in order to publish Mighty No. 9 on the various platforms. He added that however, the problems regarding the network modes were more critical than expected, and it seems that they will have to delay the game from its February 9th release date.
He further added that the solution for each supported platform is a little bit different, making the repair a time-consuming effort. And more, Comcept is using an engine that hasn’t been updated recently, so alterations for online code and matchmaking have to be done by hand.
In the end he stated that unluckily, this is all a result of miscalculations on their side, the development staff. He concluded that as a result, their fans who have been waiting eagerly for Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait for over half a year longer than estimated, and for that they are sincerely sorry.
Comcept USA made $3,845,170 during a successful Kickstarter campaign for the game, which combines aspects of 8-bit and 16-bit classics with modern graphics and fan input.
