President John Mahama
James Agalga is the Deputy Minister of Interior. He says President John Mahama must be praised for his assurance towards the fight against corruption in Ghana.
President Mahama has been seriously criticized following the several corruption scandals recorded in his supervision. His opponents says that he has been comfortable in his attitude in dealing with the criminals.
These contain alleged corruption deals in the Subah Contract, GYEEDA contract, the Woyome Judgement debt payment among others, embezzlement at the National Service Secretariat, and the latest use of Ghc 3.6 million of Ghana’s oil income to brand buses.
Arguing his opinion to the media analysis and current affairs programme, ‘The Big Issue’, the Deputy Minister stated President Mahama’s battle against the evil cannot be matched to what was done under the former Kufuor administration.
I think we should give the President high marks, perhaps 90%. I have indicated before that when it comes to President Mahama’s determination to fight corruption, it is not similar to what we saw under the eight years management of Kufuor.
Mentioning examples to support his assertion that former President Kufuor’s battle against corruption was feeble, James Agalga alleged that Kufuor’s reply to questions at a similar press conference on his determination to fight corruption during his term, was nothing to write home about.
You have the similar President Kufuor who spoke on bribery at a similar conference; we all saying how President Kufuor replied to the issues. It was at the castle gardens or so where he supposed that corruption was as old as Adam and Eve and that if the President Kufuor was to face the matter head-on his government will ruin.
