According to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Education in-charge of Tertiary, there will be extended facilities that will ultimately increase enrollment in the various institutions.
Government has restated its commitment to investing in the education sector in infrastructure development.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated during a tour of some GETFUND projects in Accra on Thursday that government is committed to transforming the education quality throughout the country.
He said that it shows a great deal of commitment on the part of gov’t. It is not only about carrying out projects, but it is also about prioritizing the projects and carrying out strategic projects and also seeing it to its completion. All these projects are very essential to the development of the school. We are prioritizing the project; we are investing in projects that would make an impact on the students and will have direct bearing on the learning experience of the student.
His first priority was at the Association of African Universities. The facility, according to the Project Manager, Anthony Atta Bosompem will be the permanent secretariat of the association; it is almost 60 % complete.
The over 1000 seater capacity library complex at the University of Professional Studies, UPSA, which will be opened to students in March, 2016, has an e-learning centre, library, and executive learning center.
A demonstration school is also about 40 percent complete. At the Accra College of Education, an ongoing 1000 seater capacity Auditorium was almost 60 % complete.
