Farmers asserted the rice seeds were tainted and must be depicted as “grains”.
The Ho group of rice farmers have grumbled about the low quality of rice seeds from the Rice Sector Support Project of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA).
The agriculturists raised the issue at the meeting with government with rice producing Farmer Based Organizations in Ho.
The meeting was at the occurrence of Small Actions For The Enterprise (SAFE-Ghana), a rice producing focused non-governmental association.
The agriculturists said the “rice seeds” were blended with distinctive assortments, influencing yield quality.
Mr Billy Anyomi Agbotse, Chairman, Volta Region Rice Producers Network, told the media that because of the poor seed quality, they lost yield possibilities and neglected to draw in the great business sector in the year.
A rice rancher from Adaklu said customers griped of having distinctive assortments of rice in their plates subsequent to cooking, some half cooked.
Mr Patrick Avumegah, Team Leader, SAFE-Ghana depicted the circumstance as grievous and said his outfit was banding together 2SCALE Projects, a global association to train affirmed seed cultivators in the locale to enhance yield.
