The Union of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives has called off its four-day-old strike.
The distressed public sector nurses boarded on an undefined strike on Monday complaining government’s mismanagement to settle their salary unpaid for close to two years.
The nurses called the direct to the government following intimidations that they threat losing their October salaries.
The spokesperson for the Union Theophilus Doh explained that the interruption of the strike to the media news, Thursday, adding that the government is frustrating its side of the snip.
In the meantime, the Ghana Registered Nurses Association has acclaimed that the junior nurses over their assessment. Though, it has convicted, authorities for their bad handling of the issue.
In a press declaration, the association stated that we desire that we need of essential services must at all times receive due admiration and gratitude by our paymasters, and our martyrs must come with a compensated without assigning us the attitude of dignity better than other public sector workers because we have faith in that it is the services we deliver that are essential and not certainly we ourselves.
We take this chance to condemn in no uncertain positions, the disregard and ill-treatment make known our junior Nurses and Midwives and public that they have been given a raw contract as the paymaster has been unresponsive to their plight for concealment their salaries for periods extending from six to eleven months. If this is not dishonest, how can a strike act be, following a glare on the ruling in their favour by the National Labour Commission that their overdue salary arrears must be paid?
