Sixty Five Parliamentary candidates for NDC primaries in 28 out of 29 constituencies in the Brong Ahafo Region have been cleared by the party authorities.
Selection in the Techiman North Constituency, where Mr Alex Kyeremeh, a Deputy Minister for Education, and Mr Prince Opoku Mensah are vying for the seat, was postponed. The issue has been referred to the party’s headquarters in Accra for the outcome to be determined within one week.
The willing aspirants from the 29 constituencies in the region include female candidates. They are Dr Hanna Louisa Bissiw, Deputy Minister for Agriculture; Ms Dora Amma Tamea, Ms Victoria Lakshmi Hamah and Ms Felicia Adjei.
Ten of the candidates went unopposed, while 6 candidates agreed to step down during the selection in party’s interest.
The seven members vetting committee was chaired by former General Secretary of NDC Alhaji Huudu Yahaya.
In a press briefing after the vetting, the Communication Officer of the NDC, Mr James Asante told that the vetting was fair, hectic and free from violence.
The NDC Communication Secretary said questions centred on one’s eligibility, competence, dedication and loyalty to the party.
