Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has warned contractors working on the community school project across the country to work speedily and ensure that all buildings are given on time.
Education Minister said, all resources have been made available to facilitate their work and no excuse will be tolerated given by any contractor.
The deputy minister said while speaking on the media that we have asked to the contractors that this is a priority project, they are urgently needed. Our children need to the schools very badly and we will not tolerate any delays in this regard.
He added that, from the point of view of government, we have provided the funding…the resources have been made available for these project to be completed on time.
The building of these Community Senior High Schools was a 2012 campaign promise of the governing party National Democratic Congress to enable more Junior High School graduates get the secondary education.
The schools are also being built to lower pressure on existing SHS in the country.
Also, some of the schools will be constructed in newly created districts which have no schools to save pupils from taking several miles everyday to go to school.
The deputy minister, also Member of Parliament for North Tongu said 3 of the schools are ready for commissioning and 7 others are at the roofing level.
According to Mr Ablakwa 14 of the community day schools will be ready in December. The remaining will be completed by March 2016.
He said government will not only build new schools but will also ensure that the quality of education delivered in these schools is not compromised.
He indicated that government will also continue to refurbish existing schools in the country.
