Facebook has revealed, after years of questions that it is working on an alternative to the Like button to enable users to express their feelings on serious posts.
Regular users of social media site know the dilemma of not having an alternative to the Like button on such posts where Like option is not appropriate.
Founder Mark Zuckerberg stated that, a way for users of the social networking site to show empathy is due to be tested soon by the social media.
He said hundreds of people had asked over many years about an alternative such as a dislike button, but he stated that he was keen that Facebook did not become a forum for people to simply vote up or down on a post by someone.
He admitted that not all moments are happy ones, and talk about people wanting to share their feelings when someone dies, or ongoing refugee crisis posts.
He said that depending on how the test version goes, the alternative could be available to users more broadly. The query was submitted by a user in Cairo, who recommended I’m sorry, Interesting or Dislike options..
Facebook marked a milestone last month, when it recorded 1bn users in a single day, for the first time since its inception.
