Sarkodie is Hiplife and hip-hop musician of Ghana. He has briefly taken some of Ghana’s biggest topics like the economy, corruption, among others. He also has highlighted the suggestions that he interferes in politics through his songs.
Sarkodie, who started off with songs that generally the songs are focused on love, life and its stresses. He has newly recorded a few songs which reflected the economic challenges of Ghanaians, bad management and exploitation.
Some of the matters that have been emphasized in his music recently include economic mishandling, poverty, idleness, the reduction of the cedi, greed, between others.
There have been mixed responses to his new style with many of his supporters praising him for promoting change through music. But those who disagree with him states that he is making the request of the opposition party by making the required government not accepted.
The one-time BET award winner in an exclusive interview with the live media transmission on Friday, expressed that he only makes up such songs when he is hit by the goings-on around.
The singer highlighted that all I know is that when something occurs and it hits me, I will be moved to talk about it so it’s really not party-political; it’s about me.
In reply to a question posed by the Host of the media Show, Bernard Koku Avle, on how he simply puts together such words that talks about serious matters, the rapper responded;
Its originality; when you are in the attitude it comes. When I think about the first line, then I just say it and think about the next one. Most of my songs, particularly the actual rap once I do it again and again.
If I think about it; it comes and I will say it and then I will pause for the next humorous line. It takings maximum 30 minutes to create such songs in the studio before the learning.
Mostly I am affected by what occurs around and as an actor I pay attention on the facts.
Sarkodie is introducing his new album titled ‘Mary’ this September. This will be his fourth solo struggle, following Makye in 2009, Rapperholic in 2012 and Sarkology in 2014.
