The inactiveness of Ghana’s Criminal Code has caused increase in the public corruption, said by The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC).
GACC believes that portrayal of new laws and renewal of existing ones is required for better control over corruption in the country.
One of the research officers of GACC, Bright Sowu has expressed that corruption should be treated like crime in order to control the evil completely.
He has charged the community to back the implementation of existing laws against the canker.
Moreover while talking to Media he said that we are not taking things serious politically. The need of the hour is to raise the issue on community level.
The GACC has joined the USAID to win the fight against corruption in the country.
USAID Accountable Democratic Institutions and Systems Strengthening Project is a 4 years duration program to surge the encouragement for changing the laws of corruption.
The continuous reporting of corrupt institutions to the GACC can brought the crime to the barest minimum, Mr. Sowu believed.
Platforms like bribe are provided to the people to report the corruption cases via email, phone calls and letters. The cases are followed up latter, he noted.
Local Accountability Network is newly introduced by GACC to help fight corruption, he added.
The Above program provides checks for local assemblies in the area of costing and inspection of infrastructural projects of these assemblies.
