Mr Alhassan Yakubu, the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has advised aspirants in the imminent district level polls to keep their selves away from vote buying.
He stated news that some of them were distributing money and making impractical promises to persuade voters were discouraging and not good for good local governance.
He was addressing at a day’s forum held by the Commission with the help of the European Union (EU), in Kumasi.
The aim was to instruct and assist aspirants drawn from many constituencies of the metropolis to have superior knowledge of the polls policies.
Mr. Yakubu stated no one should have any false impression about the reality that the assembly was not the area to earn money.
He said it was based on this that everyone must be reasonable and frank to the citizens.
The NCCE Regional Director also highlighted the need for them to be involved in voter tutoring on how to print a thumb properly on the ballot papers.
He stated, that, was significant to reduce considerably the number of flawed ballots.
Mr. Yakubu urged the people to make sure huge turnout and vote for those who possibly will be trusted to give the right management and make their areas improved.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Director of the Commission, Mr. Kwame Nkrumah, urged all to be familiar with the electoral regulations to avoid violations.
