John Agyekum Kufour the Former President of Ghana has called for private sector to create job opportunities for the people of Ghana and save the cedi.
The president said that currently our public sector is unable to provide job opportunities; therefore, the burden of providing employment directly falls on private sector.
He said many people in the country are unemployed, they are unable to find a job and this has led to create many negative activities in the society. Many young people engaged themselves with these negative activities without knowing its danger.
These are some risks in our society and will remain in the society unless private sector will create employment opportunities for the people to remove the risks.
Mr Kufour has told this while speaking at the fifth anniversary of ideal finance in Accra.
The public sector also suffers if the private sector is weak, as the public sector loses out some corporate tax revenue to make able the people for employment.
Therefore the managers of our economy have to be alarmed with the situation when private sector failed.
Mr Kufuor has called to the private sector increase the export level in the country to save the cedi and reduced the imports of the country.
Further he emphasized on the need to increase the exports of Ghana by saying that it is the only way to save cedi. Without doing this our currency will continue to fall.
He said supporting the private sector is very necessary because population of the country is increasing day by day and Ghana could no longer dependent on its traditional export such as gold and cocoa regarding to satisfy its foreign exchange needs.
