Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of the company said that, Nvidia Shield tablet recall includes the massive bulk of devices the company has sold.
Nividia announced on Friday that, the 8 inch Shield tablets that were sold between the time period of July 2014 and July 2015 have a battery that is vulnerable to overheating and could cause a serious fire hazard.
The company stated that the voluntary recall does not include any other Shield products, including the Shield gaming portable and Shield Android TV set-top box.
The batteries of the tablets codenamed Y01 are are affected by the recall, but the batteries codenamed B01 are not included in the recall.
According to the US consumer Product Safety Commission, 83,000 Shield tablets sold are affected by the recall. The tablets include in recall from Canada are 5,000 units. Huang said, these numbers encompassed most Shield tablets sold by Nividia.
Huang told the media that, ultimately, it was a tough lesson in learning about battery suppliers and battery supply companies. He added that he is glad to some extent that they have learned it in the beginning when their expectations were modest and for sales and were just getting into it.
Nividia is known for manufacturing graphics processors for computers, as a slate built for gamers pitches the Shield tablet. The company has not revealed exactly how many devices, it has sold, the number is low, according to most experts.
Nividia intends to stay in the device market for the long haul, Huang believes. He said that investment is low to make tables and he believes that the gaming will be revolutionized, by enabling online access to games.
