A decision has to be made by the national council of the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) in a meeting on their proposed strike after the intermediation by Mr.Julius Debrah, the chief of Staff.
On Friday, Mr. Debrah met the pharmacists in a last minute effort to convince them against the scheduled strike starting from today.
The leadership of GHOSPA has briefed the national council to make the decision following the meeting about proceeding with the planned strike.
Mr. Stephen Corquaye the Chairperson of the group has told Media that the way forward would be determined and after the meeting, it would be announced to the members.
The pharmacist’s strike would integrate the health sector difficulties which are already whirling from the effects of a strike by medical doctors.
A Notice of nationwide strike was served by the Pharmacists over their disagreements on demands of their appointment on the Single Spine Salary Structure.
A statement by GHOSPA has said that following a Sub-Cabinet Committee report the Chief of Staff has directed the Ministry of Finance to implement the road map for resolving the salary complaints of pharmacists in the public sector since 8 August 2014.
But the Ministry of Finance has proven its clear opposition to carry out the instructions.
