Dr. Godfred Bokpin , The Head of Finance at the University of Ghana Business School as well as an economist has claimed President Mahama to reduce his administration for help saving country’s economy.
He was of the view that this is an essential step to cut down the budget used for maintaining government appointees. A three years IMF program has been signed recently by the government to fulfill some financial and technical issues affiliated to the economy.
Talking to media he said that in times like present, a lean government is required to support people’s confidence. He pointed out that Country already has limited revenue, so financing such big number of government employees is not justified by any way.
Moreover Dr. Bokpin added that he knew that politicians would not like his views but we must think like this. The money spent on them could be used for some development work to save the country’s economy.
The government has made much effort to improve public sector payrolls among others could go a long way in the generation of some savings for the country hence should be analytically deliberated, he said.
He concluded that if we only reduce 20% cost of maintaining a minister or a deputy minister, it would not just a lot of savings but also boost’s Ghanaian‘s confidence over government in this challenging times.
