Operations Manager of the Tema Thermal Power Complex, Mr Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo
VRA is going to provide 260 MW additionally to the national grid in November. The existing install capacity of the Tema thermal power complex in 350 MW and the steady capacity is 300 megawatts. It depends on the fuel availability.
The Operations Manager of the Tema Thermal Power Complex Mr Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo told media person during a media facility visit that was organized by the VRA said coming November, the extra 3 MW will be added.
This visit was to update the public and the media on the recent activities and plans the Volta River Authority is starting to help provide adequate and stable power to resolve the Dumsor.
He told that the Authority will add a total capacity of 450 Megawatts from the power complex by November. He added that the Volta River Authority is planning to see how best to add more generation power to the national grid.
Mr Edward Ekow said the project cost was estimated at 40 million dollars, that would be from the self generated funds of the VRA for the support of the project.
Mr Francis Yaw Agbenyo told journalists at the Kpone Thermal Power Plants that, the 2 plants that are currently under construction would provide 220 MW of power when completed. They will be with a twenty five year lifespan with interception of maintenance.
