Tax education seminar has been organized by small tax office “Agbogbloshie” of Ghana Revenue authority (GRA). The seminar was held in the catchment area for about 100 stakeholders.
The topics discussed in the seminar were filling of returns, VAT Act 870, the rules of rent, record keeping, tax and withholding taxes, registration as well as re- registration.
These topics were discussed in the seminar to aware the people and stakeholder about the rules and regulations of taxes.
According to the office manager of small tax office Mr Stephen revealed that the main purpose of the seminar was to aware the stakeholder about the rules of taxes, and make the tax laws easier so that the stakeholders will operate regarding the tax laws.
It was also organized to create comfortable atmosphere for stakeholders so that they can discuss their problems with tax authorities in an easier manner.
More he said that the purpose of seminar of tax education is to engage the stakeholders in a fruitful discussion like assessment of tax, submission of returns and record keeping.
And the seminar would encourage the voluntary compliance so that they can increase the necessary taxes which are very important for a country’s development.
Development of any country will be depending on large amount of taxes.
Principal Revenue Officer Mr Anthony Dekagbe state that GH¢ 120,000.00 is required for any taxable person to issue VAT receipts and registration.
He also advised to the traders to maintain their good record so that they can prepare their monthly returns easily.
