On Tuesday, ZTE launched two new devices under its ‘Axon’ brand after launching its new ‘Axon’ smartphone series with the introduction of its ZTE Axon handset in the market, one of which is the Axon Lux smartphone and the other is the Axon Watch. The company, however, did not disclose the pricing or the availability of the smartwatch.
The handset sports a TFT LCD screen of 5.5-inch CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) with 2.5D curved display technology, a pixel density of 534ppi and a QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The display is protected with new Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass. The Axon Lux is run by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor combined with Adreno 430 GPU and a 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM .
The smartphone, like the formerly publicized ZTE Axon version, also contains a dual-lens (13-megapixel + 2-megapixel) back camera with dual-LED flash, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an 88-degree wide-angle lens. The ZTE Axon Lux also comes with 128GB inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded by means of MicroSD card (up to 128GB). Some of the sensors on board include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, magnetometer, and hall sensors.
It measures 154x75x9.3mm, and the ZTE Axon Lux is backed by a 3000mAh battery. A fingerprint scanner is also included in the handset that can record up to five fingerprints at one time, along with an eye-scanner.
When we come to the ZTE Axon Watch, we see it featured a circular display of 1.4-inch (400×400 pixels) with Gorilla Glass and sapphire coating. It runs Tencent OS as a replacement for the widely used Android Wear. The watch, which features IP67 certification for being water and dust resistant, runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (APQ8026) processor, clubbed with 512MB of DDR2 RAM. The wearable also includes a Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, a 300mAh battery and a 4GB of inbuilt storage. It comes with support for phone calls, gesture controls, and messaging. Other features which have been included are an accelerometer,a heart rate sensor, geomagnetic, gyroscope, and a barometer. The smartwatch weighs 49 grams.
In addition, the company also launched its ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector. The device contains “mobile hotspot features” together with an inbuilt touchscreen in 5-inch. The firm has added a voice control solution (Mandarin) to its smart projector for its customers in China.
