Last month, after bringing a major overhaul to its Web Interface of Instagram, has now further added a search bar on the website, getting it closer to its mobile equivalent.
When users sign into their accounts of Instagram on the Web, they will see a simple search bar placed at the top most of the page, from where they can easily search for profiles, videos, images or hashtags based on location, same as in the mobile version. Instagram also offers a drop down of recommendations related to the search text that users pass on.
The photo sharing service owned by Facebook emphasizing on Web interface may be confusing for some people as the company started as a mobile-first (without doubt, app-first) platform for sharing videos and images. An Instagram spokesperson said that while Instagram.com is designed in a way to be paired with the mobile apps, it is important for the international conversations that take place on Instagram.
The new search bar perfectly fits now with alterations made to the Web interface of the service which allows photo-sharing. Last month, Instagram rolled out feeds, hashtag pages and redesigned profiles for its Web interface. The redesign basically rolled out modifications to the profile page of the user of Instagram and showcased much bigger pictures than ever before.
In addition, the firm also started permitting the users of iOS and Android to upload pictures in resolution of full-HD i.e. 1080×1920 pixels, but the feature is not likely to come on the Web interface any time in a little while.
