In the Northern Region the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Azorka has stated that during the Talensi by-election his supporters were not violent.
Azorka expressed that during the election the only thing his supporters did was to stop the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from sharing the money to convince voters.
He explained that New Patriotic Party (NPP) went round sharing money to voters on the election day and we said we will not permit people to share money in that way because NNP didn’t get the chance to share money, they are just angry and want to ruin our name.
Azorka further stated his supporters were not armed when they stopped the NPP from “sharing money” as earlier reports indicated.
He claimed that the security agencies there checked me carefully, but they didn’t find anything.
Freddie Blay, first Vice chairman of the NPP and his monitoring team were reportedly attacked by some boys assumed to be from the camp of Azorka.
Freddie Blay’s vehicle, Upper East regional correspondent, Fred Awuni, was vandalized too.
Meanwhile, Koku Anyidoho, the Deputy General Secretary of NDC reported that attacks on Freddie Blay were staged by loyalists of Paul Afoko, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
He explained, when I did my checks apparently I observed that it was boys loyal to Paul Afoko who attacked Freddie Blay.
He further explained that there is this continues rift in the NPP and I understood that the boys are hurt that Freddie Blay is one of the reasons why Afoko can’t be the Chairman that he wants to be.
Koku Anyidoho revealed that one of the NNP notable, Addai Nimoh, is under heavy protection too from the Police and the military because some known NPP boys have intimidated to attack him.
