Everybody has failed in Ghana when it comes to proper planning to save the nation from shocking natural disasters, a former local government minister has mentioned.
Dr Joyce Aryee said the level of carelessness in Ghana is upsetting and it’s about time leadership got serious with issues contributing to constant floods in the nation.
Ghana is in a state of grief after more than 152 lives were lost in a fire explosion and flood in Accra which came on last Wednesday. Lots of people sustained degrees of burnt injuries and are presently receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Police and 37 Military Hospitals.
On Wednesday, the former Information Minister under the JJ Rawlings regime said Ghanaians must be “responsible” even though she believes leaders must tolerate the “blame” for the disaster.
“All of us have failed,” the former CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines spewed.
“We have all failed,” Dr Aryee stressed.
“We litter the city. Even in front of our own house someone has to come and clean. We have to be responsible. Our leaders are also to be blamed… The time to act was yesterday and it is that urgent,” a para-church organization, the founder of the Salt and Light Ministries, noted.
