Bishops urges Mahama to Stop the ‘empty promises’ and solve flood issues
Bishops of Catholic Conference has criticized at President John Mahama government following the death of one hundred and fifty people during the recent fire explosion and flood which hit in Accra.
According to the catholic bishops the government must cease the long empty promises fix the issues facing the city to prevent such unpreventable deaths.
Most Reverend Osei Bonsu noted, who is the Chairman of the Conference in his issued statement noted that, for all this time what we have seen is ministers and government officials visiting flood scenes to sympathize the victims and to make long empty promises to resolve the situation.
This statement also added that year in and year out the same situation keeps frequent without any concrete practical steps that are being taken to address it holistically.
The Bishops Conference admonished city authorities not to provide building permits to people who build their homes on water courses.
It also said that those who float such building regulations should be dealt with it according to law. Every Ghanaian citizen must accept that when we disobey our laws, we will all one day face inevitably the consequences of such type of action.
The directed all the Catholics to pray for the departed ones and donate bold to save injured ones, the extended their condolences to the bereaved families.
