The Greek giants, Panathinaikos fans were presence in thousands at the airport to welcome the Ghanaian star midfielder Michael Essien, who is expected to join the Athens-based club this week.
The Ghanaian international travel to Athens to watch Panathinaikos’s 2-0 victory over PAOK Salonika on Sunday, and gave interview to the local media and poses with fans for photographs ahead of hi move to the Greek giants.
According to the local media, “He will sign a two-year contract worth €2m.”
The 32 old year Black Stars player is currently a free agent following the conclusion of an 18-month spell at Milan and is ready to begin the next chapter of his career in Greece.
He also played for the Blues between 2005 and 2014, before joining Real Madrid and AC Milan.
