Google and Twitter have announced the renewal of the partnership regarding showing tweets in search results which was put to an end in 2011.
The initiative will enable the Google to feature more real-time results of search queries and will aid Twitter in boasting its user engagement after a period of slow user growth which has affected its stock price.
Jana Messerschmidt, vice president of Twitter stated that the company is excited to team up with Google in order to take real-time unique content on Twitter to search results on Google.
Messerschmidt said that the partnership will begin with search results within the Google app and the mobile web, with version for desktop coming. She added that the feature will stretch to more countries in the next months.
She explained in a blog post that if users are interested in information regarding Taylor Swift, a search on Google will feature her most recent tweets. Or if one is a TV lover, a search query of #Madmen will feature the most relevant news or tweets about the show’s finale on Sunday.
Both tech firms had an agreement in 2009, but in 2011 tweets were droped from Google search results.
Ardan Arac, Google’s product manager in a separate post stated that it’s a great way to fetch real time info about something happening at that time. And it is a way for organizations and Twitter user to reach an audience on globally at the relevant time.
