Emmanuel Asiedu Mantey, the former deputy Governor of BoG has warned government to find an urgent solution to the dumsor, the current power crisis as it can potentially lower down the growth prospects of the country in present year and beyond.
Mr. Asiedu-Mantey was speaking at a public forum that was organized by the CIB, Chartered institute of Bankers in Accra, he said that current unpredictable power situation has put the key economic growth of the country at triggers, the industry and services, sub-sectors in risk and that the situation must be over turned as soon as possible.
He said while addressing the public forum that we must find immediate way out as it can put the growth of the key sectors of the country including industry, services and sub sectors in danger.
There are some key sectors that significantly take part to the Gross Domestic Product of the country. If the situation did not reverse there will be serious implications.
He further said there will be loss of employment opportunities for instance that will ultimately up grade the pressure of the economic sector and this can weaken the growth prospects of the country for 2015 and in the coming years.
The public forum’s maiden was held at the Best Western Premier Hotel, and the theme of the public forum was, Monetary Policy stance and the national budget, and its implication for the business in this year, 2015.
