The tangy and sour taste of vinegar is not only something that makes your taste buds feel great, it is actually an amazing tonic for many conditions.
There are different kinds of vinegar available in the market, every kind has its own wonderful benefits but Apple cider is proven scientifically great for health. The procedure of preparing vinegar involves 2 steps; firstly the apples are crushed and added to yeast which ferments the sugar and result in the formation of alcohol – then bacteria is added to this alcohol which results in the formation of acetic acid by further fermentation.
Vinegar in French means sour wine. Apple cider vinegar contains not more than 3 calories and though not rich in any vitamins it does contain some amount of potassium and Amino acids. Vinegar has anti-bacterial properties that can sooth any tummy aches or any digestion problems that happen due to bacteria in your digestive tract. Add some drops of vinegar in plain water or apple juice can solve the problem.
Apple cider vinegar is seen to stop hiccups, half teaspoon of this vinegar can stop the hiccups entirely, scientists think that it is because the nerves in the throat get overstimulated and cancel the message of hiccups to the brain that helps the spasm.
Vinegar can also be a great remedy for your sore throat. It’s because many bacteria cannot survive in the acidic environment, vinegar creates such atmosphere that does not support life for bacteria .just gargle some amount of vinegar mixed with water and do it often times a day after you feel the prickle of the sore throat.
Vinegar is used as an anti-microbial due to acetic acid, it is used to cure nail fungus, get rid of lice, Addi Ear infections, and cleaning. Due to its antibacterial properties, it can be used in foods as a preservative, as it inhibits the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria in the eatables.
Vinegar is a great medicine for type 1 diabetics, as it is proved to lower insulin resistance by 19 to 35%.it also is seen to decrease blood glucose levels after a high carb meal. Many studies on humans and rats conclude that vinegar ingestion during a meal can lower the blood sugar levels to a great quantity. 2 t2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar can lower your fasting blood glucose levels up to 4%. This is proven scientifically and so far the most successful benefit of vinegar. However if you are on any oral medications or taking insulin injections for diabetes, do ask your doctor before increasing your vinegar intake.
Looking at the effects of vinegar on diabetes, it can be helpful for losing some extra pounds too. Studies suggest that vinegar can help with satiety that means eating lower calories which result in weight loss. it was also seen that vinegar when eaten with high carb meal, made people feel fuller earlier ,that also resulted in shaking off some extra weight.
Another study in obese individuals showed that daily vinegar intake resulted in reduced belly fat, decreased waist circumference and lower triglyceride levels and weight loss.
Consuming vinegar could be good for your heart. It was seen in a study that was done on rats that it lowered their cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Apple cider vinegar contains an antioxidant called Chlorogenic acid that protects LDL cholesterol from getting oxidized, which is the main cause of heart problems. It was also seen in a study that vinegar also lowered high blood pressure in rats, which is also related to heart problems, but unfortunately what works for animals not always necessarily works for humans. Further studies on human will confirm this.
Some studies also suggest that vinegar might help in cancer, as it was seen to shrink tumors and cancer cells. But all the researches were performed on either rats or on test tube in individual cells. We don’t know what it does on humans yet.
Some observational studies suggest that vinegar decreased esophageal cancer, in China and bladder cancer in Serbia. But these observational studies prove nothing so it would be too early to say anything in this regard but whatever, the other affects and benefits are way too bigger to resist vinegar intake. Just make sure to consume not more than 3 tablespoons per day as more then this dose might be harmful for you. Add vinegar to different salad dressings, soups, mayonnaise, rice dishes and enjoy your food plus get healthy as a bonus.
