
Google has Purchased Odysee, an application for Smart phones that backs up and shares the photos and videos. Odysee is an application own by Nimbuz inc. The terms of the deal between both companies have not been disclosed.
Odysee has confirmed their deal with Google in a statement issued on the Homepage of their website that says that the team will join Google+ team. Odysee’s goal was to provide the convenient way for everyone to capture unlimited recollections that can be accessed everywhere. The team of Odysee added that they are excited to join Google where they will concentrate on developing the amazing products that people love.
However, there is a disappointment for the existing users of the service as Odysee has planned to halt operations by the end of this month. After the February 23, 2015, data of the users will be available for download only.
Odysee allow the users to automatically create the backup of images and videos of Smartphones on their home computer. This facilitates the user to clear up the space on the Smartphones without having to sign up for cloud-based data storage device.
The App in addition to storing and backing up the images also offers a sharing option to automatically share the data with friends and family circle.
Reports are that Google has been planning to spin photos as a separate, unconnected service that will not directly connect to Google+.
This Purchase will also allow Google to compete directly with the other photo services like Flicker, 500px and Instagram.
