
Mark Woyongo, Interior Minister has given directives to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to keep an eye on the fuel spending by police crew vehicles.
He told that he advised to Finance officer and IGP to observe the fuel utilization at every level of the department and be up to date to manage the fuel consumption, it should not be like it has reached to end point and they haven’t manage new supply of fuel and it create hurdles in duties of Police force.
Now the IGP has followed the instruction of fuel timely supply and consumption as media revealed the report that more than 100 police vehicles are out of service just because of fuel shortage.
Moreover police department also paid all the payment bills to the market supplied fuel to them and not got payments and they has stopped to supply fuel to Police department.
In a prayer and thanksgiving service organized by regional Police Command of Accra, the Sector Minister told to media in an interview that police service did not faced fuel crises, it was little in number but media misinterpreted it and claimed that police department is running out of fuel, they are facing crises, companies are not giving them fuel due to non-payment receiving, it’s bad and it should not be.
When we heard the news of fuel shortage on Media we immediately issued notice to Finance Minister to follow the news and consequently they issued the payments to purchase new supplies for fuel to keep going police service duties.
According to the Minister, now at the moment all the Police Commands have got the fuel supply and now serving people with their full determination, now there is no problem of fuel supply any more, he added.
