Osteoporosis is a commonly known and occurring bone disease that affects women and men both, however the occurrence of this disease is seen more in women, but after the age of 60 to 65 years, men and women both get the victim of osteoporosis at the same rate. Osteoporosis is a state where the bones become porous and weak, due to the loss of essential minerals like calcium and vitamin D.
Our bones are constantly being repaired and losing calcium in them, but after the age of 35, the loss is greater than the replacing minerals, resultantly the bones become weak and get more prone to fractures.
People suffering from severe osteoporosis, can break their bones while standing or just performing small activities because the weakened bones can no longer support the weight of body. Bones of wrist, hip, or spine are more susceptible to breaking in this disease.
