The president of the Ghana Actors Guild, Nii Odoi Mensah and the Ghanaian actor has to pay $300 weekly to stay alive.

Doctors have told that his both kidneys are unable to performing their key functions efficiently to keep him alive.
So, to remain alive, the actor has to pay $300 weekly for dialysis.
His case came to public after the death of Muna Obiekwe, Nollywood actor. The Nigerian actor died on Sunday, January 18 at the age of 36 after he lost his fight with a kidney disease.
While getting a donation from an actress Juliet Ibrahim, Nii Odoi Mensah in a video disclosed that “I’m a chronic kidney patient,” and entitled for public support to get medical treatment.
Juliet Ibrahim posted the video on her Instagram page, added the caption: “My last donation to veteran actor Nii Odoi Mensah who is now a chronic kidney failure patient. He is in need of your help; he has lost both his kidneys. He has been going through this all alone till he understood he alone can’t pay his hospital bills which cost per dialysis $300 3 times a week for the rest of his life. Both @tommy__cann and Mr Odoi Mensah are patients of www.julietibrahimfoundation.org #kidneyawarenessit can happen to anybody prevention is better than cure friends.”
The actress told the reporters in an interview that she gave the donation in December 2014 and it was money raised from her charity costume party by her foundation – the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation.
She noted that she organizes this occasion to raise funds to support the medical treatment of those in need in the society.
According to the award winning actress, she raised GHc5,000 which she shared among three persons – including Nii Odoi Mensah.
Juliet said the treatment for kidney diseases, which are now widespread, is expensive and called on public awareness and support for persons going from the disease.
She disclosed that “we are presently working on something to help increase enough funds for him to get a transplant,” and she is expected to involve her colleagues to make that dream come true.
