Cold and flu are the most common sickness around the world, season of cold starts from September till March or April, it was seen that cold was the most common cause of absentees in schools and offices in America. Although once anyone catches cold, it lasts for only a week but the symptoms make you very frustrated.
The symptoms of cold include,
The cold and flu virus enters through mouth, eyes or nose and attacks the area of sinus, ear, throat and upper respiratory tract. The symptoms are very irritating and make people weak, infected person is forced to lie down and rest and do nothing.
There are more than 200 viruses of cold, once you catch it, it cannot be cured, it completes its peak affect and then gets mild, however there are preventions that you can try to avoid cold during its season, also it should be understood that cold and flu is a viral disease, so antibiotics that are supposed to work for bacterial infections won’t work for a common cold.
Prevention is always better then treatment, here is what you can do;
Wash Your Hands; washing your hands would keep you protected from cold and many other infections. Many infections are transferred to other individuals via hands, just wash your hands with soap or hand sanitizer a lot during the season of cold.
Stay away from others if you catch cold, cold virus can be easily transferred to other person through eyes, mouth or nose. If you have caught cold, keep your distance from others. Use tissue papers while coughing or sneezing, and immediately throw them away before anyone else touches them.
Don’t cover your mouth and nose with a hand while sneezing or coughing, as your hands might carry the virus by doing this. The cold virus keep lingering alive on anything you touch with those hands and when anyone else touches the same thing you touched, it increases the risk of others to get flu.
During the cold season, wash properly all the telephones ,door knobs, shelves, tables and all other things that are used by everyone together, use a sanitizer for this purpose.
Eat more phytochemicals during this season, phytochemicals means plants, during the season of cold try consuming more of green, red and yellow vegetables and fruits, these vegetables make your immune system strong and protect you from cold.
Stay at home if you are infected with the virus, this way you might protect others from catching cold.
Stop Smoking; it was seen that smokers are more susceptible to cold, if you smoke, quit it as it makes your immune system weak and increase your chance of catching cold and other infections.
Don’t take stress, as taking stress also makes you more susceptible to infections and getting diseases. Relax and keep your head occupied with fun thoughts and activities.
Keep your life style healthy, eat healthy and nutritious diet, exercise and keep yourself away from infections and disease, although there is no scientific clue that it might help but eating healthy and exercising will naturally help you preventing
