Rappers can be your therapists
What is so amazing about rap music that makes everyone dance? Rap music or hip hop music with its ‘Thumb beats’ is loved by all the youngsters, but guess what? It doesn’t only make you shake your booty; it is a complete mental therapy. Surprised? Don’t be, it is proven scientifically.
A recent study carried out by Cambridge University proves that rap music or hip hop music can combat mental health issues of certain patients. The researchers suggest that rap music can improve the health of depression and schizophrenic patients.
The paper released by the researchers’ states that rap music gives its listeners the message of breaking free and not to lose hope, sounds true. Rap music with its noisy beats yet comforting words leave different messages for different people. Some artists remind its fans that it’s okay to be you, to just forget everything and don’t listen to what others say and live your life, while many singers tell their hearers about daddy issues or perusing happiness and keep living.
The study proves that rap music influences better mental health and also helps depression patients to cope up with their thoughts and encourages them to keep smiling and living.
On the other hand, another study that was conducted out few years back and included 522 black girls with non-urban socio economical neighborhood, between the ages of 14 to 18 who rarely or never watched gangsta rap videos, concluded that black girls who watched gangsta rap videos at least 14 hours a week had very destructive behavior.

Researchers surveyed different rap videos to find out the behavioral influences of these videos on teenagers, it was seen that gangsta rap videos was the most popular among these girls who showed this destructive behavior. This study was published in the March issue of the American Journal of Public Health.
Rap music was also used recently as a tool to aware people of West Africa about Ebola outbreak and health precautions. Since Africans are the best rappers in the world and love listening to it too, scientists
used it as a means of passing useful information to the locals of West Africa about Ebola virus attack and how to stay protected from it.
One of the main reasons to use rap music as a way to relay information was because majority of population consisting of young people, have a strong relationship with the young crowd.
The words of this rap music mimic the same message that the international health agencies gave about Ebola, like Ebola is real and that Ebola is in town and other messages about what ways to adopt to survive. two studies as mentioned above have opposite results,good for health or not,rap music is too entertaining to just stop listening to,i would just say ‘Please don’t stop rap music’.
