Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital denies keeping dead bodies for longer period
The Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital denies keeping dead bodies lying around in wards for longer period of time.
The Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital, contradicts the statement that corpses are seen lying at the wards for longer period of time after the patient has passed away Doctor Zakpalah Dery Emmanuel, acting as the medical administrator stated that the dead bodies are transferred to the mortuary as soon as the paper work is completed after the doctors confirm the death of the patient.
The medical administrator explained the rumor as untrue about the hospital, he stated that it depends on the situation in which the patient died, if anyone dies at the time when the mortuary man is in the bank taking care of some transection then it will take some time to convey the body to the mortuary, but never does it take hours, only sometimes it takes few minutes longer than necessary, Doctor Dery answered to the suspicions raised by Mr. Kofi Beneabesi, Presiding Member of the Dormaa Central Municipality that there were reports suggesting that corpses were seen lying undone in the wards for hours that forced other patients to leave the ward.
The acting medical administrator further told the Ghana News Agency that it was hard to keep out patients with minor cases out of the emergency area, which is strictly reserved for people who need to be treated urgently, moreover, he explained that people with cold or minor cases come barging to the emergency room where it is hard to send them to the outpatient department because sometimes they travel from faraway places, and if anything happens to them the hospital will get the blame.
He stated that it would be a lot easier for the staff and the hospital if people understand that the emergency is restricted for people which need intense care and walk straight to the OPD instead of coming to the Emergency.
