Hypertension Regulation with Your Food Choices
Hypertension or high blood pressure is thought to occur when the blood is unable to pass through the arteries smoothly. The blood passes through them with force resulting in the stiffness of inner walls of your arteries.
Anyone going through this is not able to feel anything in the beginning but with the passage of time calcium and fat start to accumulate inside your arteries which harden them and result in narrowing the blood flow towards your heart and other organs.it can result in stroke, blindness, kidney failure and heart attack.
Many different medications are available to manage raised blood pressure but there is no cure for this annoying disease.
A research performed in 2008 suggests that Africa has the highest number of people suffering from hypertension, around 46 percent of both gender are the victim of uncontrolled blood pressure. However, healthy food choices and little lifestyle changes can manage your blood pressure and might keep you protected from it entirely.
Mineral ‘potassium’ is found to be very effective for the management of raised blood pressure. The good thing is that potassium is found in number of fruits and vegetables. Studies suggest that consuming a fist full of potassium is very helpful for this purpose, also potassium should not be attained from the supplements, it is better and much preferred if you in take them from natural organic fruits and vegetables.
If your body is potassium deficient then your body starts to retain extra sodium in your blood that results in high blood pressure. Try to eat more sources of potassium. Many fruits and vegetables like bananas, potato, sweet potato, and spinach are rich in this mineral.
Many other edibles also assist this purpose like low fat milk and dark chocolate.A research concludes that a small box of dark chocolate having no more calories than 30 is very helpful for maintaining hypertension. Beans, pulses, like kidney beans, soybeans and chickpeas all serve the purpose.
You should also cut on your sodium intake. The daily recommendation of salt is not more than 6g for adults but our consumption is a lot more than this. You should try to reduce your salt ingestion in everything. Watch out for all the processed food you get from the market, biscuits, bread, butter, and crackers should all be closely monitored while eating. Working out and dropping extra pounds are also helpful to shield yourself from hypertension.
Little lifestyle changes and paying little attention on what you eat are the key to regulate your blood pressure. Yes high blood pressure is not curable but is 100% manageable. so switch to your favorite salads and start running!
