Good news for old and new pensioners because they will have allowances in the face of monthly pensions.
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust SSNIT did increase the monthly pension allowance by 15 %.
The SSNIT Corporate Affairs Manager, Ms Evangeline Amegashie gives a statement that new increments are start making from January 2015.
According to the Act 2008 act 766 accordance with section 80 of the National Pensions, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust SSNIT were enhanced monthly pensions by 15.0 percent for the year 2015.
Ms Evangeline Amegashie added, the minimum monthly pension for the fresh pensioners will be GHS 230.00.
However, the pensions of current pensioners according to the new increments will be implemented as these two statements
!. At 31 December 2014, all monthly pensions will increase by a fixed rate of 5 percent with that an additional flat amount of GHS 36.92 and that will constitutes the remaining amount 10.0 percent.
2. For current pensioners from 31 December 2014 who were taking the minimum monthly pensions of GHS 200.00 now will take their pensions about GHS 246.43. This will be enhanced 23.43 percent, effectively.
