The National Communications Authority, NCA Ghana declares that the media reports that tariffs of telecom will increase in next year are not truthful and accurate.
Current media reports assert that telecom tariff would increase 50% in coming year.
On the other hand NCA rejected the rumors and said the news as reported in the media is not in line with the ongoing process as Authority is revising the Wholesale Interconnection Rates (WIR) for the operators of mobile network.
WIR charges defined as, the charge which one telecommunication operator charges to other for lay off calls on its network, and revising this not mean the NCA is going to increase the tariff.
An official press release from NCA stated that “At the Public Forum on the Clearing House License held on 26th November, 2014, the NCA explained the impact that the Interconnect Clearing House to be introduced in May, 2015 would have on the Wholesale Interconnection Rates”.
The official release also cited that “The NCA also clarified how the processes of the Clearing House will lessen the increasing trends of the Wholesale Interconnection Rates going forward”.
In that official statement the NCA also insure the general public of Ghana that the authority is fully aware by the telecommunications importance in the lives of public and it remains always committed to the safeguarding the hopes of all the customers.
