Labour Unions Protesting Against the Government in Accra and Kumasi
Today 20th November, in Accra and Kumasi the 12 labour unions united against the government of management of employers. Their demand was that second tier pension funds are in the wrong hands and government workers are cheating them.
The basic agenda of the protest was that the government has raised second tier pension funds, but the funds are not released yet or the workers who are handling this act are cheating upon them and the situations will be worse if the government will do nothing for the betterment of its citizens. This was the reason for which the unions protested today.
Moreover, they said that the government has to do something positive, otherwise this will lead them to destruction and this embarking was delayed so the government gets their time to solve this problem but the government did nothing. The leaders of the unions said that this activity will be followed till the government will solve the problem for them.
The march in Accra started from the Obra Spot. Many employers took part in it and the march ended at Hearts Park, where union leaders addressed to the forum.
On the other hand the protestors started their march and walked through some specific roads in Kumasi. They were also raising slogans against the government that the government is cheating with our money and they want justice.
The case will be put on in the court on Monday, so it can be decided that who the right custody holder of the funds is.
