
Mark Woyongo Asserted To Arrest Anarchic Youth
Mark Woyongo, Ghanaian Interior Minister warned the angry youth protesting the ongoing load shedding, to stop from destroying public property otherwise they will be arrested.
Whereas he identify with the annoyance of many Ghanaians over the constant load shedding, Woyongo stated the youth cannot use anger as a reason to demolish public property.
He is giving remarks a day after the riots in which ECG’s property was demolished and the main roads had blocked by youth from two suburbs in Accra in protest against the irregular outages.
Tabora youth has accused of destroying a polytank owned by the ECG at the Kwashieman ECG substation.
According to the reporters of different media, the security guard of ECG at substation was also beaten by the protesting youth.
In Odorkor, the youth jammed the main Kaneshie-Odorkor road, and was chanting and throwing verbal abuse at the government and the different power production companies.
They asserted that from numerous days they are suffering with load shading without any clarification from producers and distributors.
However the immediate involvement of the armed forces had handled the situation.
Mark Woyongo warned the youth that such actions would not be bear in the future. “If the next time they demolish the public property police would take them into custody.
In an interview with media channel, Dr Emmanuel Bombande, the security specialist with the West Africa Network for Peace building pointed that the ongoing load shedding and it’s against protests are major threats to the national security.
