Apple CEO Time Cook met a top Chinese government official on Wednesday to discuss over its security crisis and protection of users information.
The meeting of Cook came following two days China accused of trying to breach Chinese user’s iCloud credentials with a highly arranged cyber-attack. He met with Vice Premier Ma Kai in the central Beijing, Zhongnanhai, which is the heart of the ruling Communist Party.
The details of meeting are not clear yet, the state run new agency only disclosed the forum was used to discuss, “views on securing of users’ information, and “views on beef up cooperation in information and communication areas,”
The ground realities indicate that the iCloud attack, reported on Oct. 20, could be the main agenda of the meeting. CEO Tim Cook was not available to comment when media tried to reach him.
iCloud was reported to wiretap two days back when Great Fire, non-government organization that monitors internet censorship in the country, noted cyber-attack, man in the middle, on Apple users log-in information. And the experts are pointing fingers on the Chinese government.
However, the Cupertino tech giant did not allege Chinese government for iCloud attack. Apple released a support page for users how to detect these attacks and avoid them.
On the other hand China has officially denied any role in the attack following experts pointing authorities to be involved.
Apple and China have hit the headlines several times before; both sides have accused each other over security of user’s information. Do you think recent meeting of Tim Cook and Ma Kai will end this war?
