We should to cajole ourselves to condescend goods composed in Ghana, so as to augment construction and occupying to decrease our on imports, Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Trade and Industry Minister has said.
Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah said this at the 24th National Awards for Export and Achievement, 2013 last Friday in Accra.
‘Internationally, we need to brand more efficiently the manufacturing and products of Ghana, so that they can be more apparent, appealing and become highly demanded by foreign trade partners,’ Ekwow Spio-Garbrah said.
Ekwow Spio-Garbrah added that with the support of a cause of foreign products, Ghana was dare with persist trade required which badly affected the country’s foreign exchange reserves and the growth of the whole economy.
According to Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and its accompanying agencies had come up with some arbitration in current years to increase exports in the country.
Some of these mediation contain, a National Export Development Program and Strategy with the aim of increase the promising of the non-traditional export organization.
Ekwow Spio-Garbrah added that Export Trade, Agricultural and Industrial Development Fund (EDAIF) had been inspected to extend the assets wrapper to the private sector to involve agro-processing, manufacturing and start-ups activities which were export familiarize.
Affecting on Ghana’s industrial development through manufacturing and value addition of goods for both the domestic and foreign markets, he said, the Ministry would assist the progress of the construction of multi-purpose adapt industrial infrastructure and make affective to business movement specifically Small- scale and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) at suitable rent prices.
He plead with the staff of the Ghana Export success Authority not to rest on their paddle but to increase their propagate activities and arbitration not only in ECOWAS but also in the rest of Africa to promote Intra-African trade and characteristic of a region unification.
