Cholera is getting more brutal, and the extensive increase in cases from 10,000 to more than 18,000 in 96 districts has recorded, the Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Victor Bampoe unveiled yesterday.
He also added during the interview in Citi Breakfast show, Out of the three regions that were safe from the virus only Northern region remain unharmed, Eastern and Western have exhibited cases.
Deputy Minister also revealed that the poor awareness regarding to hygiene and the deficient system of water are the main causes of Cholera expansion. This critical situation impelled us to set up an inter-ministry group to tackle this brutality of cholera virus, so far the Ministry of Water, Local Government, Resources, Health, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), works and housing are joint together to combat with this deadly virus.
He also said that the Ministry of Health is already working in the communities to reduce the chances of re-infection to those who get treated from this disease.
He also argued that we are struggling seriously and giving his best to tackle the at every level of government and we want to curtail and recover right now. So blame the government only for the spreading if the virus is unjust, he said.
Cholera epidemic was started in July 2014 and 150 deaths have been reported at the time.
