Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso, the Senior Research Fellow at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) at the University of Ghana says, “Politics have now become a profit-making venture in Ghana.”
During his speech at the 35th anniversary of the investiture of Hilla Limann–Ghana’s only president of the third Republic, Dr Antwi-Danso said that politics in Ghana is a profitable business.
He added, “In most of the country, people see politics as a business rather than a duty to serve the Ghanaians, the real meaning of the politics has been blown in the wind.”
In Ghana, politics commonly referred as a profit-oriented profession in which a minister will not say, but believes that before leaving his post, he would like to make a profit of one million dollars, not all of them, but many of them, he explained.
He makes this statement on sacked Deputy Minister of Communication, Victoria Hamah, who was caught on tape saying, “I don’t want to lose my job in government unless I will earn a million dollars in my bank account.”
Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso said, “Due to some bad politicians, all Ghanaians have to pay the price for it.”
