ACCRA – GHANA Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested two suspects named , Adekonle Morufden, who is about 52 years Nigerian guy and Mohammed Basim about 35 years Tunisin guy.
The Two Suspects
It has been reported that these two suspects have packed $100 bills in bundles of $10,000 in a silver-plated trunk hidden in the boot of the car.
They have been arrested from Mile 7; a suburb of Accra attempted bribing the police personnel who arrested them, including the National SWAT Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Bismark Achaab, with $30,000.
Prosper K. Agblor, Police Commissioner said they were arrested on September 23, 2014 at about 3p.m.
SWAT team intercepted a Toyota Camry, with registration number GR 5225-13, with two occupants.
Though the suspects have denied carrying unlawful things. But when the Ghana police checked the trunk, they found a silver-plate in the boot of the trunk. And when it was opened, it was found to be filled with $100 notes.
But when the Ghana police told them that they have been under arrest for stealing the money.They gave $30,000 to the police and asked them to let them go. Police took the money and arrested them.
Mr Agblor said when the money was thoroughly examined, it was found to be fake.
A suspect told the police that they were to trade it for GH¢300 million.
Now CID is handling this case for further action and investigation.
Mr Agblor accolades the police personnel for the operation as well as not accepting the bribe from the suspects.
He also told that the police administration would give the reward to the team later and urged other police officers to emulate this as an example.
