Ghana Amputee Team
The chairman of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry who’s currently investigating to find the reason behind, the awful performance of Ghana in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Has raised his voice for the National Amputee team, he asked that why all the focus is only on the black stars, why no one sees the awful treatment that is being given to the national amputee team. He has blamed the superior executives of the football federation for not making a balance between the Amputee and National team.
“Justice Senyo Dzamefe” said that I am deeply hurt to see that the Amputee team which has played two World Cups and has appeared in a number of times in the African Cup of Nations, is being treated with such a bad manner and are not being given any sort of attention even though they have done the name of the Country a lot of pride.
The chairman of the Ghana Amputee Football Association, Rev. Richard Nii Amartey Adesa and Kofi Asare, captain of the Ghana Amputee Football team appeared before the Commission to describe the ill treatment they have had to suffer in the service of the Country.
They told that the most of the players are living in poverty and are tired of the continues ignorance that they have to deal with. They requested that the players should be provided with good salaries and other facilities that are being provided to the Black Stars. There is just too much difference in the way they treat the Black Stars and the National Amputee Team.
They said that the National Amputee Team is the first ever side to win the Amputee Football version of the African Cup of Nations, and has also showed very good performances at the World Cup and they have again qualified for the next World Cup in Kenya, the team’s talent can also be recognized by noticing the fact that 5 players of the Team are now playing professionally which is a big achievement with all the troubles they have to go through.
“Justice Dzamefe” in an emotional state said that is it really worth dying for Ghana? Are these players who go through so many troubles and struggle just to give pride to the nation’s flag deserve this sort of treatment? Is the flag which is raised after their victory not the flag of Ghana? Is the national anthem that is played when they go onto the field is not Ghana’s national anthem? He pleaded that the powers who are in charge of the sports to put an end to all this mayhem and provide good treatment to the National Amputee Team.
