President John Dramani Mahama yesterday stated that Ghana has the uppermost electricity accessibility rate of 76 percent which is the highest in West African Sub-Region. He said that although the accessibility is not 100 percent but it’s much better than other regions in West Africa.
He said “Government” is trying its level best to make access of electricity possible to everyone and we are also focusing on the undeveloped and rural areas to make access of electricity possible to them, So that they can also enjoy the luxury of electricity and improve themselves.
“Mahama” made all this known during a symbolic inauguration of rural electrification project in Kotingli for 22 communities under the phase one of the Northern Region Rural Electrification Programme. He said that a total of 400 communities in the region will significantly benefit from the first phase of this revolutionary programme, while another 400 communities will enjoy similar services and luxury in the second phase of the project.
President Mahama who is currently on a 2 day official visit in the Northern Region reviewed an ongoing affordable housing project at” Lahagu” near Tamale. He said my vision for fulfilling everyone’s electricity need is not only meant for providing lights alone, but it is also to give a boost to business activities and enable many ingenious young minds to establish businesses of their own.
We really admire the positive thinking of the President. If everything that has been promised by the President is fulfilled then a lot of areas who currently are not that much developed and don’t have access to electricity can really take a step towards development and can improve their living styles to a great extent. The youth can also gain significant benefit from these projects and this will really give a positive boost to their minds.
