Despite a late show by the Ghanaian Princesses in the U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup, they fail to qualify for the last eight.
Ghana exits despite late winner
With just four minutes left in the match Jennifer Cudjoe scores the winner for the Princesses, but fail to earn a place in last eight and left an unlucky Finland without a point in the competition.
Finland opened the scoring with a goal from Juliette Kemppi just after the half break time, which was soon level by Sherifatu Sumaila in the 71st minute of the game.
But despite a late winner, Ghana exits the tournament due to goal difference and host Canada and Korea DPR make it to the last eight from Group A.
Ghana misses many easy chances, especially when Wasila Diwura-Soale failed to convert a golden opportunity from close range in Ghana; the same story was on the other side as Finland’s Nora Heroum struck the crossbar with a free-kick.
It was Finland who was doing well before the half time but fail to convert any goal scoring opportunity to the net.
Finland goalkeeper Krista Moisio was the star of the night who saves many clear goals but fail to find victory for her team as Cudjoe powerfully converted with a drive from the edge of the penalty area for the winner.
