According to the Foreign Ministry of Ghana, we have very little to rescue the Ghanaians that were caught in the middle of a deadly Libyan conflict.
Gov’t News: We can’t help Ghanaians in Libya
Mr Kwasi Quartey, the Deputy Foreign Minister told while speaking with a news channel, the only way out for the Ghanaians from Libya is to move them to the neighboring Algeria or Egypt – only then we can help find a way to help them.
Almost hundreds of Ghanaians are in Libya praying for help and looking for their government to come and rescue them from the jaws of death.
According to the media reports, they are easy targets for the rebel forces in Libya because they are suspected of fighting for one group or another.
One Ghanaian told the joy News that most of them have not eaten for the past couple of days just because of hiding.
He added, we can’t even buy anything because all shops are closed; only hope left is that our government should take us from this country.
Mr Kwasi Quartey said, it is difficult for the government to help them because the airport in Tripoli is also under attack.
When asked that if government has any links to any of the group in the ongoing conflict to evacuate the Ghanaians safely but the deputy minister said no.
The only contact they have in Libya was that of Ghana’s representative and staff who have already left for Malta.
He added, the Ghanaian Ambassador is also one of the main targets on the list of gun attacks by rebels.
The deputy minister added, I am surprised that many of these Ghanaians were rescued some four years ago with government spending a huge amount on them and the same people returned to Libya again.
The North African nation is still looking for peace within the country after the ousting of its dictator president Gadaffi.
