The Puom Music top artist, Ras Kuuku has been nominated in seven categories – Best Collaboration – reggae, Reggae song of the year, Artiste of the year, Reggae Artiste of the year, Best song of the year, Best performer and Music video of the year – Reggae.
The awards are scheduled to take place on August 30th, after the nominations has been already announced, none of the High profile Family’s dancehall artistes got nomination in any of the category despite Samini’s is chosen as the artist of the year nomination at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards.
Organizers revealed that the High Profile family artist who includes Samini, Kaakie and Jam Master Jay – all have pulled out of the event due to their exclusion from the nomination list.
Gabriel Boateng, the General manager and head of communications at Rackus Production, in an interview with the Brain Stormer on Radio Univers said, “We cannot force them after they make clear that they will not be part of BASS awards this year.”
He added their exclusion from the event will not have any effect because; no singular artist is bigger than the reggae/dancehall genre.
Although they have not given any specific reason, but there are so many reasons for someone to pull out from an award?
The officials sponsored for BASS Awards includes Rackus Productions, Solid Multimedia and BulHaus Entertainment to reward dancehall/reggae artistes in Ghana.
