The World Theatre Day is being celebrated by the National Theatre of Ghana in Accra, with different performances, including poetry recitals, drama, cultural display and comedy shows.
The Deputy Director of the National Theatre, Amy Frimpong Appiah said to celebrate this day is very important because Theatre help to change the lives of people in the world.
She added, Theatre helps us to know about our language, culture, people, and gestures and clears a space in our heart.
The Director of National Commission on Culture, Michael Attipoe said, the theatre helped people to educate, entertain and we make sure that there will be some informative and educative message must be included in the performances to transform the lives of people.
He added, the main aim of the directors is to create the plays that will benefits to change the life of an ordinary Ghanaian.
He notifies to all the religious organization, especially the churches to take full advantage of theatre to transform society and the country at large.
The Programmes Manager at the National Theatre, Ako Tetteh atke advantage of the occasion to launch the 2014 comedy series by the National Theatre, which will take place on Friday in April and also to commence on last Friday of every month.
