The President of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Steve George Asare Hackman has requested the Ghanaian actors to move forward and make a habit of producing their own movies.
He expresses his views about actress Yvonne Okoro’s award winning blockbuster movie “Contract”, by adding that he is very happy that still we have movies that can raise the flag of Ghana high by winning several awards in Africa.
It is very good for our actor and actress to become a producer because they are used to the camera. If they work as a producer they will understand the problems we use to face behind the camera.
The Chief Executive of Hacky Films said, I will be very happy if they join us so that we can work together for the betterment of this industry.
Yvonne Okoro’s first movie, which is a self-produced by her, got four awards, Best Movie 2013, Best Movie Director, Best Writing (Drama) and Best Video Editing in just ended Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) held in Lagos, Nigeria.
If the talented actors and actresses in Ghana starts to write, produce and direct movies it help us with a lot of ideas and different views because for now we need people which can help us to move the industry forward.
Asare Hackman said the work that Yvonne started, it’s time to really push it forward, and she has already worked with producers like Venus Films, Shirley Frimpong Manso and the rest. She comes up with a new idea, and its work and I am really happy for her for winning awards at this level.
Yvonne Okoro joins the likes of Lydia Forson, Yvonne Nelson and Van Vicker, whom have written, produced and directed their own movies.
